Billie Joe Armstrong’s rehab stint isn’t sitting well with fellow band members. Hey guys, welcome back to ClevverMusic. As you probably know, Green Day front man Billie Joe Armstrong checked into rehab following his onstage (fake) rant at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas last month. Little has been said about what exactly he has gone to rehab for except quote “unspecified substance issues” as posted on the band’s Facebook page.
Green Day bassist Mike Dirnt has now spoken out about the situation, shedding some new light on just how serious it is. Mike say, “Billie doesn’t take things lightly and he wouldn’t take rehab lightly, either.” He told Kerrang! Magazine.”He’s in the middle of some really big things, but we’re going to pull through. It’s killing everyone.”
And while the band must sit still while Billie gets better, Mike vows his #1 priority right now is getting his friend well. “I know that my friend’s life is in danger and that’s all I care about,” further alluding to just how serious this must be. Warner Bros. Records chairman Rob Cavallo said he’s not sure if we’ll see Billie before or after the Holiday season. But not to fear, if you’re missing some Green Day, Billie can be seen mentoring on Team Christina on ‘The Voice’ in pre-taped segments.
Following the announcement of Billie going to rehab, the band cancelled a series of promotional events for their recently dropped “Uno!” album. They still plan to release the second album in the trilogy “Dos!” on November 13th. Do you think Billie’s rehab stint will in the end help or hurt the band? I’m curious to hear what you have to say. I’m Misty Kingma, thanks for watching and I’ll see you over at @ClevverMusic on Twitter, bye!
