Marijuana and alcohol have long been portrayed as relatively similar vices. Based on peer-reviewed scientific research, however, alcohol has been found to pose more severe and often times fatal risks. According to Business Insider, a new study published in The Lancet suggests that for people aged 15 – 49 years old worldwide, alcohol was the leading risk factor for death in 2016. Researchers found the more people drank, the more their risk of dying and their risk of cancer rose.
