Jamie Dantis Will Go To Trial

Jamie Dantis, who earlier this year was at the center of a nepotism and mismanagement scandal at the Bernalillo County detox center, will stand trial on a contempt of court charge. During a walk-in hearing Tuesday, Metropolitan Court pro-tem Judge Cecilia Niemczyk ordered Dantis to post a $25000 cash or surety bond, stay in Bernalillo County until his trial date and report to a probation officer. Niemczyk cancelled a no-bond warrant for Dantis� arrest she had issued last week after he failed to show up in court for a second time. The judge denied repeated requests from Dantis� attorney, Mark Keller, who asked that Dantis be allowed to return to an �aftercare treatment program� in Kerrville, Tex. �I have no problem with him travelling, taking two days to pick up his personal belongings and coming directly back to Albuquerque,� she said. �Before he leaves the court today, however, he will meet with a probation officer who will be supervising him on pretrial supervision.� Dantis� mother, Judy Dantis, angrily told Niemczyk she would post the bond for her son. �I can guarantee you, he will be in court,� she said. �The reason he didn�t show up last week was under the advice of his lawyer. There was a lot of paper jams going on.
