A newly born infant had 4.5 grams of alcohol in bloodstream.Sadly, a new baby in Poland is in critical condition at a hospital for the most troubling of reasons. It was discovered that the child had 4.5 grams of alcohol in the bloodstream at the time of birth.That amount is 15 times higher than the legal limit for drinking and driving. The 24-year-old mother was said to have fainted inside of a liquor store, while she was in her third trimester. After being transported to a medical facility, doctors performed an emergency C-section on the woman. A hospital spokesperson stated “The unborn baby was in severe danger of being poisoned to death.” Medical staff has expressed fears for the infant’s future development. As for the mom, she may be facing legal charges including endangering the life of a child.Earlier this year, BBC released a report concerning pregnant women in South Africa’s Eastern Cape region, who were purposely drinking in order to damage their babies so they could claim disability benefits. When a handicapped infant is born, the government provides nearly $140 per month to the family.
