Alcohol Dependency Stops Production Of Enzyme In Brain, Researchers Say

In Sweden, researchers discovered that the brain stops producing a certain enzyme when alcohol dependency develops, which leads to a further loss of impulse control.
When the brain no longer produces the enzyme PRDM2, alcohol dependent people will continue to drink regardless of the consequences, according to experiments conducted with rats at a Swedish University.
The rats who lacked the enzyme continued to drink alcohol, even if it was unpleasant and especially if they were subjected to stress.
