There is a controversial corporal punishment cure for addicts.Scientists in Siberia claim to have a cure for curbing alcoholics and drug addicts, by inflicting corporal punishment. The idea is simple: beat the addiction out of the patient. The creator of the treatment is a male psychologist. He has treated more than 1,000 patients thus far. He states “We cane the patients on the buttocks with a clear and definite medical purpose – it is not some warped sado-masochistic activity. The caning counteracts a lack of enthusiasm for life which is often behind addictions and suicidal tendencies.” Although it is controversial, many patients claim to have conquered depression and addiction battles with drugs, sex and even work through this radical treatment.Last year, another bizarre treatment made reports. The controversial addiction surgery that has been used on people with alcohol or drug problems in China involves altering part of the brain that is responsible for feeling pleasure. The Ministry of Health in China banned the surgery for use on addicts in 2004, but it is still being performed for research or on people suffering from mental illnesses like depression, schizophrenia, or obsessive-compulsive disorder.
