At Best Drug Rehabilitation, we believe that, while the treatment of addiction is crucially important, helping our patients in their recovery from substance abuse is only a part of the solution to the problem of battling drug and alcohol dependency. It is essential to build up our communities, making the world around us a better place and showing today’s kids and young adults that there are positive and healthy alternatives to using substances. By promoting education and athletics, we strive to give people the promise of a brighter future through clean and sober living. In this spirit, BDR co-sponsored “Music with a Mission”, a concert event that benefited the Mendon and Illini West High School district.
Education is probably the greatest tool we have as a society to battle the drug epidemic. Unfortunately, government spending on education has dwindled, and this underfunded sector is left with fewer supplies, inadequate facilities and underpaid, overworked educators and staff members. The schools and their districts are left to find their own funding, organizing various fundraisers like “Music with a Mission”. The commitment to education shown by the teachers, coaches and students who participate and support events like this one are an encouragement and inspiration for anyone who hopes to make tomorrow better for us all.
Performers at “Music with a Mission” included Jared Blake, Trailer Choir, Kyle Grubb and Colt Ford. Before the show started, Colt Ford found a few minutes to sit down and talk with Best Drug Rehabilitation CEO Per Wickstrom, chatting for a bit about music, commitment and different ways to make the world a better place. “When I really started to be myself and be honest with who I was,” says Colt, “that’s when good things started happening. Every day you gotta get up and go work at it. Life ain’t easy, but it helps when you got people that support you, and you gotta surround yourself with people like that if you want to be successful.” By supporting education and building up the community, we hope to help make many more young people grow to be successful in their endeavors in life.
When we come together as a society to promote the betterment of the world around us and life in general, we lay the groundwork for future generations to enjoy a brighter and more successful future. At Best Drug Rehabilitation, we believe that encouraging education and social improvement is every bit as important in the battle against the drug epidemic as treating addiction and chemical dependency.
