Doherty ditches Thai rehab

Peter Doherty’s grabbing headlines again, not for his music, but for a spell in a drugs rehab clinic in Thailand.

The 33-year-old was asked to leave ‘The Cabin’ in Chiang Mai because professionals at the clinic felt he wasn’t ready to stop using drugs.

The clinic issued a statement saying it was important to maintain the integrity of the treatment program for the other clients to have a good chance of recovery.

Doherty’s history of drug and alcohol abuse has been well documented in the media.

He rose to fame in the early noughties with bands, the Libertines and later, Babyshambles.

Recently he appeared at the Cannes film festival to promote his starring role in the film, ‘Confession of a Child of the Century.’

Doherty was due to perform at festivals in June and July, but pulled out to fly out to the jungle clinic.

He lasted three weeks on the recovery programme.
