An attorney for actor Emile Hirsch says the actor does not remember the night he is accused of attacking a female studio executive — because he was drunk.
Hirsch is charged with attacking Daniele Bernfeld, an executive at Insurge Pictures, a subsidiary of Paramount Pictures. Attorney Robert Offer wrote in a statement obtained Friday that Hirsch is taking the allegations seriously and is “devastated” about the charges. Offer states the actor is in a rehab facility for treatment for alcohol abuse. The “Into the Wild” actor was charged in Utah Thursday with felony aggravated assault over the incident, in which Bernfeld accused Hirsch of placing her in a headlock and dragging her across a nightclub table in late January. The 29-year-old actor is scheduled to make his first court appearance on March 16th. Hirsch also faces a misdemeanor count of intoxication.
