So what is the medical process by which we optimize a person’s hormones with bioidentical hormones?
The process begins, first of all, by getting a full battery of blood tests. Many of the tests are those that any good physician would order for their patient every year or two as routine checks.
We also add a little bit more specific tests of the thyroid, in addition to testing a person’s testosterone, DHEA level, growth hormone level, estrogen levels, etc.
Then we find those results, and combined with a persons complaints, height, weight, age, and physical activity. We determine an initial starting level on all of those hormones.
We place them on calculated dosages, and after about four weeks, we re-test the levels of those hormones. not the full battery that we initially tested. Then, based on the new levels, we adjust the dosage and fine tune the prescription to ensure the person is at the high end of the normal hormone levels of a person in there early twenties. Not higher than, but not significantly under that range.
