X minus Y – Documentary by Sumudu Guruge (breast feeding and alcoholism)

Sri Lanka is placed in a leading position when it comes to the tendency towards breast feeding. Culturally the “nursing mother” is receives high social recognition. Infants who breast feed up to around 5 years of age are not uncommon. There is ample Government sponsorship relating to breast feeding. Ironically, Sri Lanka has the highest rate of alcohol consumption in comparison to other countries of Southern and Eastern Asian region. A large number of social issues including domestic violence are prominent in the country. This is somewhat of an unlikely phenomenon for a country where high spirit consumption dates back only for around 200 years. What is the psychological and biochemical inter-relationship between these two divergent factors? Does breast feeding leads alcoholism? ——————————————————————————————————— Special notes:- Shot by Handheld Canon 60D with available lights, completed 12th May 2012.
